Pilgrimage in Sri Lanka
I am sure most of us would look upon this tiny island as a tourist destination with most of the tourist visiting this place with only one thing in mind, yes you guess it right! Relaxation and leisure! Most of us tend to pursue the same notion about this tiny island that is located on the end of India. And believe me this country called Srilanka is no more than a mere drop of tear located right in between the Indian Ocean.
But that’s not all. This is also a country with deep religious sentiments and places. This tiny island has a number of religious places and monuments that have it all so as to make you visit them every year. This is because of its rich religious values and practice that the people have and not only that it’s the faith of these Srilankans that impresses us the most.
So all you guys that are just looking out to have some fun here’s a bit of advice, just in case you feel like relaxing and soothing your minds and those who are looking out for some divine peace and calm that too on this tiny island, then visiting these temples and religious monuments would be the best idea and the best alternative.
Srilanka is a religious place with a number of different religious sites and places that attract different tourist that are living all over the planet. However, most of them are related and associated with the Buddhist culture and religion. The most famous among them are the Temple of Tooth where the sacred relics of the legendary Lord Buddha is still preserved and treasured since the time of his death. Then there is the Sri Pada Peak or better known as the Adam’s Peak. It’s these religious places that provide all the peace and the solace to the tourist that come flocking every year during those festive that are celebrated in remembrance of these Gods.
The Adam’s peak is the most sacred ancient pilgrimage that has always been considered to be sacred by all the ethnic groups that are living in this tiny island. There have been all the Hindus, the Christians and the Muslims that have all the respect and the faith for this religious place in Srilanka, even if this is a Buddhist religious site. It’s located on the mountain and is about 2200 meters high.
